 In News

Hey there all you Tri-County Pest Control fans, and welcome to another edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday!  This week, we’re taking a look at an invasive pest that is sure to come running at the smell of anything stinky: the maggot.

Maggots are a type of pest that everyone has seen before, and that can cause quite a ruckus is left untreated.  Coming from the housefly, maggots are basically baby flies that have not metamorphosed into a full-fledged fly yet.  However, what this means to the homeowner, is that they will pop up wherever a fly is, and can reproduce like crazy, so leaving them untreated can prove to be a big mistake.

The purpose of these critters is to eat everything in sight, so that they have the energy to change into a fly.  While leftover foodstuffs is a common meal, maggots have also been known to eat flesh, specifically of the dead, but they can also latch on to your pet and have a meal.  That being said, taking care of maggots should be your top priority should you see them, and they can come with a wide array of consequences.

Out of all the ways to deal with a maggot infestation, prevention is by far the most effective.  By cleaning up after yourself and limiting the amount of food left out overnight, you drastically reduce the chances of flies swarming your home, and thus maggots obtaining a foothold.  Should you find maggots, however, your first order of business should be to eliminate their food source, and then remove them.  In certain situations, you may not be able to find the food source of the maggots, which is where we come in.

Fighting maggots may seem like an overwhelming battle, but we are here to help.  By using state-of-the-art techniques, we can effectively take out your pest problem for good, and keep them out.  For a free estimate, give us a call today.
