The Sentricon Total Colony Elimination System

Pre-Construction Treatment

Treatment Process
Treatment Process

The best time to provide protection against termites is during the planning and construction of a new structure. During this time we are able to achieve a complete barrier between the soil, where termites nest, and the structural wood that they will seek to feed on. There are a few different key elements to a pre-construction termite treatment:

Horizontal Treatment below the slab or foundation

Most construction in this area consists of a concrete slab or foundation that rests on the soil. Often, cracks will form in the concrete, and termites will enter the structure to begin feeding on the wood. Additionally, there are often intentional penetrations such as bath traps, constructions joints, and plumbing outlets that are created when the concrete is poured. In order to prevent termites from entering through these areas, we create a horizontal chemical barrier. This is accomplished by treating the soil underneath and around the concrete before it is poured. This way, any termites attempting to enter from beneath the slab will contact the non-repellent termiticide, and in turn infect the colony.

Vertical Treatment of the Perimeter

Another way that termites commonly gain access to the wood of a structure is by building tunnels from the soil up the side of the building. This can be prevented by creating a vertical chemical barrier. In order to achieve this, we treat the soil down to the footer around the exterior of the foundation. Any termites that try to tunnel up the building from the outside will have to travel through the treated zone.

Upkeep
Upkeep

When treating a structure for termites, it is not enough to kill only the foraging termites that are infesting wood (although this is an important component). In order to ensure that termites are completely eliminated from the property, we need to achieve 100% collapse of the colony, including the queen. This is accomplished through the use of non-repellent termiticides injected directly into the soil.

Our slow acting, non-repellent termiticides are undetectable by termites. As they tunnel through the treated zone, the termites unknowingly ingest and contact the chemical. Then, as these foragers return to the colony, they transfer the chemical to any other termite they come into contact with. Due to the highly social nature of termites, this process leads to an exponential spread of termiticide throughout the colony. Since the product is slow acting, by the time they realize something is amiss, the queen and whole colony have already begun to collapse.

Not only do we treat you home to eliminate any termites currently attacking your home, but we also prevent future termite infestations. Our treatments create a continuous barrier in the soil, and the chemical is guaranteed to continue killing termites for at least 10 years!
