Wacky Pest Wednesday: Centipedes

 In News

Happy Wednesday to you Tri-County Pest Control fans out there, and welcome to our latest edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday!  This Wednesday, we’re focusing on one of the most creepiest of crawlies: the centipede.

Centipedes are one of the most disturbing looking pests out there, mainly due to their legs!  Depending on the species, a centipede can have anywhere from 15 to 177 pairs of legs.  No wonder why people consider these critters the scariest of pests.

Now, while their appearance may be skin-crawling, they can have a fearsome bite to back up their looks.  Many centipedes are carnivores, and use their front two legs to inject venom into their prey.  For a family, this can serve as a problem, as in certain situations these bites can be fatal.

These critters love to spend time in dark, damp, and secluded areas, especially during the winter.  As the weather begins to change, try to take note if any centipedes are making themselves comfortable in your home, and if so, be sure to let us know.

No matter how many legs they have, centipedes are no match for us.  Give us a call today for a free estimate, and be sure to check back to our blog regularly for more pest control tips!
