Now Showing: Hollywood’s Take on the Less-Serious Side of Pests – from Tri-County Pest Control

 In News

At Tri-County Pest Control, we take our job of keeping your home pest-free seriously, but we do like to have a little fun every now and then. A little-known fact is that we’re a huge fan of movies—especially movies about pests! We enjoy kicking back and seeing how Hollywood portrays the very critters we take care of on a daily basis. So, we’d like to share with you our favorite pest movies, and we highly recommend that you see them!

Arachnophobia: We’ll start off our list with Arachnophobia, because it is arguably one of the best-known pest movies out there. If you haven’t seen it, or if you can’t guess from the title, Arachnophobia is a movie about spiders, giant spiders actually. Deathly afraid of spiders? No worries, there’s still plenty on our list that will fit your bill.

Them: This one is a pinnacle of pest movies. Picture giant ants, mutated from atomic testing, coming from the core of the Earth, and trying to take over the world—that’s Them. This movie was made in the 1950s, it’s a black-and-white flick, but it is still one of our favorites for being “the original” pest movie; it was nominated for an Academy Award back in its day.

A Bug’s Life: If horror movies are not your thing, then A Bug’s Life is right up your alley. This Pixar-animated Disney movie is perfect for all ages, and like most Pixar movies, it does not disappoint. Based on Aesop’s fable, “The Ant and the Grasshopper”, Flik, the ant, needs to defend his colony from Hopper, a grasshopper, and to do so, asks for help from a band of circus-insects. A Bug’s life was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy award, and won a Grammy for its soundtrack.

Spider-Man: If you haven’t heard about your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man yet, then you have to see this one (the 2002 release). Tobey Maguire stars as the web-slinging superhero, saving the city of New York from all the thugs and villains the city can muster. A staple of the superhero genre in modern films, this is a must-see for any superhero or pest enthusiast.

Those are our top picks for pest-movies. Did we leave out one of your favorites? Please put your favorite in the comments section, we’d love to hear from you! Rest assured, though, for no giant arachnid, swarm of mutated ants, or Green Goblin is going to get past us.
