Wacky Pest Wednesday: Yellowjackets
A very happy Wednesday to you, Tri-County Pest Control fans! We are here with yet another edition of Wacky Pest Wednesday, and today we invite you to join us as we cover a typical summertime pest: the yellowjacket.
Yellowjackets are stinging insects that you will most likely come across this summer, and at first glance, they may seem just like a bee. However, these critters are more like wasps (since technically they belong to the same family!), and likewise can be a painful nuisance to you and your family.
These pests typically build their nests around this time of year, as the air temperature is just right for the perfect building conditions. During this time, their diet is mainly made up of insects, ranging from the smallest of gnats to the largest of dragonflies! Human are not on their lists, but they will most certainly sting if they feel threatened, which may range from a simple ball kicked to their nest or even the sound of a lawnmower several yards away.
That being said, if you find a yellowjacket nest on your property, it is imperative that you take it down as soon as you can, for the safety of both you and your family. You can try it yourself, but we recommend to turn to the time-tested professionals who know how these critters operate. That way, there is less danger for everyone, and you can be assured that the yellowjackets will not be coming back anytime soon.
If you find yourself staring down a yellowjacket (or their nest) this summer, shoot us a call, and we’ll take care of it in no time. It is just another thing we do to assure the safety and comfort of our clients and friends!
